COAS, UK general discuss Afghan peace process

Chief of Defence Staff United Kingdom Army General Sir Nicholas Patrick Carter called on Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa and discussed a raft of issues including the Afghan peace process, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to a statement issued by the ISPR, the meeting took place at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.

As per the ISPR statement, matters of mutual interest including the Afghan peace process, security and defence cooperation as well as evolving global geo-strategic environment were discussed during the meeting.

The visiting dignitary acknowledged Pakistan’s continuous efforts for peace and stability in the region and pledged to further enhance bilateral relations between both countries.

A day earlier, Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad, US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation, and General Austin Scott Miller, Commander of Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan, also called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.

Matters of mutual interest, regional security and the ongoing Afghanistan Reconciliation Process were discussed during the meeting.

The visiting dignitary greatly appreciated Pakistan's role in the ongoing peace process.
