Release TLP chief Saad Rizvi if not wanted in any other case: Board

The Federal Review Board has dismissed an application moved by the Punjab government to extend the detention of outlawed Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) chief Hafiz Saad Rizvi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Dismissing the Punjab government’s application on the basis of withdrawal, the Federal Review Board has directed the provincial authorities to release Hafiz Saad Rizvi if he is not wanted in any other case.

The three-member Federal Review Board, led by Supreme Court’s judge Justice Maqbool Baqir, held the hearing via video link at the apex court’s Lahore Registry on Saturday.

The Review Board maintained that on what ground the Punjab government was seeking extension when the High Court had declared the detention null and void.
