The preparations for the general elections in Punjab have been accelerated as the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has appointed 927 Returning Officers (ROs), District Returning Officers (DROs) and Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) for the Punjab Polls.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the ECP issued a notification of the appointment of the DROs, ROs and AROs on Friday.
The ECP notification said 36 DROs, 297 ROs and 594 AROs have been appointed for the elections in Punjab.
As per the channel report, DROs and ROs have been taken from the bureaucracy by the Election Commission.
The Election Commission also appointed Saeed Gul Mehmand as RO for 74 seats reserved for women and minorities in the Punjab Assembly.
Returning Officer was nominated under Article 106 of the Constitution and Section 51 and Section 104 of the Election Act 2017 for the reserved seats.
The nomination of 66 women and 8 seats of minorities in the Punjab Assembly will be done after the list of political parties.
