The Jamaat-e-Islami on Thursday decided not to vote in the today’s election for chairman and deputy chairman of Senate.
Mushtaq Ahmed, the only JI Senator, will not vote in tomorrow’s session, confirmed JI central information secretary Qaiser Sharif. He said that the JI senator will not attend the Senate session. Jamaat-e-Islami MNA Chitrali also did not vote in Senate elections on March 3.
The Senate, Upper House of the Parliament, will hold its much-awaited session on Friday (tomorrow) where the 48 newly-elected senators will take the oath but will also take part in the election of chairman and deputy chairman in what appears to be a nail-biting contest, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
