Imaan Mazari, husband skip controversial tweet case hearing
Human rights lawyer Imaan Mazari and her husband Hadi Ali Chattha failed to appear in a court in Islamabad in a controversial tweet case on Saturday due to the closure of roads, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka heard the case.
State Prosecutor Usman Rana Advocate told the judge that the suspects were deliberately not appearing in the court. “By not showing up, they want the case to drag on,” he added.
The court, however, ordering the couple to appear at the next the hearing, adjourned the hearing until October 13 (Monday).
The District and Sessions Court in Islamabad had on September 30 indicted lawyer and activist Imaan Mazari and her husband Hadi Ali Chattha in a controversial tweet case.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Afzal Majoka framed the charges during proceedings where neither Mazari nor Chattha was present.
