Govt postpones census till December

It has been decided [by the government] to postpone the seventh census for four months on account of delay in procurement of technical equipment, 24NewsHD TV channel Friday reported citing informed sources.
Earlier, the seventh census had been scheduled to begin at the end of August. Now, it is expected to begin in the last week of December, and its results will be submitted to the election commission by March next.
As per the initial schedule, the census results were to be submitted to the election commission in December.
It also merits mention here that a digital census was decided to be carried out for the first time in Pakistan. And, the purchase of around 120,000 tablets for the digital census is also included in the technical equipment.
