Cabinet approves bill regarding increased powers of Auditor General of Pakistan

Prime Minister Imran Khan chaired a federal cabinet meeting and expressed his dissatisfaction over his ministers’ performance and directed his team to improve the performances and better representation on media, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Imran Khan said even after the passage of two and half years the ministers need to work hard and they need to focus on their ministries with better performance outreach to the media.

The federal cabinet meeting discussed the overall political and economic situation of the country and also dilated upon steps taken to check the spread of the second wave of Covid-19.

Federal Minister for Information Senator Shibli Faraz briefing the press about today's cabinet meeting said the cabinet meeting discussed a 15-point agenda.

He said, “The cabinet approved a bill regarding the increased powers of the Auditor General of Pakistan. AGP’s powers have been increased.” 

The TV channel reported the PM was briefed about the Usama Satti case, Machh incident and Broadsheet case in the UK.

Cabinet decisions

Cabinet approved the deployment of Rangers in PS-52 Umar Kot bye-elections and decided to form a committee of ministers on railway land dispute in Nowshera city and constituted a committee with Azam Swati, Shafqat Mahmood, Pervez Khattak Asad Umar as members.

The committee will submit recommendations on the issue, the TV channel reported.

The meeting approved the appointment of DG of Legal Aid and Justice Authority, Board of Governors of Pakistan Council of Science and Technology, Institutional Reform decisions and FIA Commercial Banking Circle Lahore Police Station.

The meeting approved revision of the decision of the Federal Cabinet dated February 4, 1997, the TV channel reported.

The cabinet approved the election and administrator of the National Council for Medicine, the TV channel reported.

The cabinet approved the posting of Additional charge for the post of DG of Hydrocarbon Institute.

Federal cabinet meeting with the PM in chair ratified the decisions of the ECC and the Cabinet Committee on Privatization.

The cabinet meeting was also briefed on writ petition against Federation of Pakistan regarding the abduction of Sufian Saeed's son.

Cabinet members say the threat of Coronavirus has not yet been averted and more precautionary measures are needed to contain the virus spread. While the Economic Affairs Division deferred details of foreign funds.
