Maryam breaks her silence, at last

March 12, 2020 05:07 PM

Rejects reports Nawaz declined to undergo treatment without her in London

PML-N Vice-President and daughter of three-time former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz broke her silence after a long time on Thursday and asked opponents not to do politics on the health issue of her father.

Talking to newsmen outside the house of senior PML-N leader and former PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in Islamabad, Maryam said “Nawaz Sharif’s heart procedure is under way as one of his veins is blocked 90 percent.”

She rejected reports that Nawaz Sharif had refused to undergo treatment until she visited him in London. “He twice asked his doctors to delay the procedure as my request was pending in court for permission to travel abroad. He was hoping to see me had the court granted me permission,” she elaborated.

Maryam appealed to all rivals not to do politics on the health issue of Nawaz Sharif.

Maryam said now the procedure has started and her whole family is taking care of him.

Responding to a question about her silence, she said there could be many reasons for her silence. “I do not want to make the situation difficult as my father was undergoing medical treatment in London.”

“You would not find me behind if the party directs me to perform my duties,” she maintained.

To a query about ministers’ statements on Nawaz Sharif’s health, Maryam said “This same government and its ministers had earlier said that Nawaz Sharif was sick and should be sent abroad and now they are talking about bringing him back saying he is not sick. Either they were telling lies before or now.”

She declined to comment on a question about the differences within the PML-N. She said media is not free today.

Maryam said she was worried about the masses as the prices were skyrocketing.

Maryam Nawaz along with husband Captain ® Safdar and Pervaiz Rashid travelled to Islamabad from Lahore on Thursday to meet Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Ahsan Iqbal. She wanted to thank them on behalf of the PML-N for their sacrifices for the party. She said they were jailed without any reason.

According to 24NewsHD.tv, Maryam after landing in Islamabad went straight to the house of Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. She will also visit Ahsan Iqbal to discuss the political affairs in details while congratulating him on his release on court orders.
