It seems we won’t be able to eliminate polio from the country in near future what to talks of tackling coronavirus, as two more polio cases were reported from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday (today).
The latest cases are found in the southern parts of the province – Lakki Marwat and South Waziristan.
As a result, the number of polio cases in the country this year has risen to 29 with 15 of these reported from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to officials, a 14-month-old girl of Lakki Marwat and a 13-month-old boy of South Waziristan have been diagnosed with poliovirus.
Moreover, the two cases are a result of the parents not allowing the polio workers to administer drops to their children. It again shows how difficult has it become to make anti-polio campaign successful amid organised propaganda against vaccination.
Just yesterday (Wednesday), two girls with poliovirus were reported. One of them was a three-year-old from Jandola tehsil of Tank, while other one is two-year-old resident of Zhob, Balochistan.
