Britney Spears ex Sam Asghari opens up about her struggles

Actor and fitness trainer Sam Asghari has spoken out about the challenges faced by his former wife Britney Spears, suggesting that the pop star experienced years of control and exploitation from people around her.

According to the Daily Mail, Asghari made the remarks during an appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored, where he discussed political tensions involving his birthplace, Iran, and reflected on Britney's personal struggles.

During the interview, the 32 year old explained that witnessing the restrictions faced by women in Iran had shaped his perspective on freedom and rights.

While clarifying that the situations were different, he said Spears had also faced forms of oppression from people who allegedly took advantage of her position and fame.

Asghari added that it was difficult for him to see someone living in the United States experiencing such circumstances.

He stressed that despite their separation, he continues to care about Spears wellbeing and believes she has the strength to overcome her current challenges.

The comments came shortly after the singer’s recent legal troubles made headlines.

Spears was reportedly taken into custody by the California Highway Patrol on suspicion of driving under the influence after authorities received reports of erratic driving.

She was later released and is expected to appear in court in early May.

Asghari and Spears first met in 2016 while filming the music video for her song Slumber Party.

The pair began dating during the period when Spears was under a court ordered conservatorship that governed many aspects of her life.

After the conservatorship ended in 2021, the couple married in June 2022.

However, their relationship ended the following year, with Asghari filing for divorce in 2023. Their separation was finalized in 2024.

Despite the split, Asghari said he continues to respect Spears and hopes she receives the privacy and support needed to move forward.
