2 traffic cops among 7 martyred in Lakki Marwat market blast
At least seven people including two traffic cops were martyred when a powerful blast ripped through a market in Lakki Marwat on Tuesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to Rescue 1122 officials, the explosion was reported in Sarai Naurang Bazaar.
At least 18 people including a woman and a child were also injured in the blast.
An emergency has been declared in the Sarai Naurang Hospital to deal with the situation.
The development came after 15 police personnel were martyred on Saturday night in a sucide attack on the Fateh Khel police post in Bannu.
PM Shehbaz grieved
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday expressed deep grief over the martyrdom of seven people, including two traffic police personnel, in a blast at Sarai Naurang Bazaar in Lakki Marwat.
In a statement issued in Islamabad, PM Shehbaz reiterated that all relevant institutions and the government were working with unwavering resolve to purge the country of terrorism.
He emphasized that terrorists would not be allowed to impede the nation’s journey towards peace and progress.
Paying tribute to the sacrifices made in the fight against terrorism, PM Shehbaz noted that all law enforcement agencies and the public have rendered invaluable sacrifices in this struggle.
He directed the authorities concerned to complete the inquiry into the incident immediately to identify those responsible and bring them to justice.
The prime minister also prayed for elevation of martyred souls in paradise, and for the swift recovery of those injured in the incident.
