All students safe as Wana Cadet College cleared of terrorists
The Wana Cadet College was cleared of terrorists as the security forces personnel had killed early Wednesday all the Khwarij involved in the attack and saved all the teachers and the students, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
A suicide bomber and four other khwarij terrorists were killed in the successful operation, the security sources said, adding the college building was currently being cleared due to the threat of landmines. They, however, said that no college teacher or student was hurt during the operation.
Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar told a private TV channel that the operation was a “huge achievement” of the Pakistan Army, adding 550 students were safely evacuated.
Tarar said the attack on the college could have been a bigger incident than the 2014 attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar.
The minister further said “This was a difficult task and a sensitive operation. And our Army has proven once again that it is included among the world’s best.”
Tarar said Pakistan had proven its worth in conventional warfare and was also doing the same in the “proxy war”. He reiterated Islamabad’s demand that Afghanistan’s soil not be used for carrying out terrorist attacks in Pakistan.
The minister said that investigations would be carried out into the attack in Wana as well as the Tuesday’s suicide attack in Islamabad. “Concrete evidence of the attacks will be shared with friendly countries and international forums,” he added.
The minister asserted that Pakistan would uncover those involved in terrorist activities. “We are in good hands. Our security is in strong hands, so there is nothing to worry about,” he said.

On Sunday evening, security forces personnel had foiled a major terrorist attack on the college after militants rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the institution’s main gate.
According to the ISPR, three terrorists were killed in the retaliatory operation, while nine civilians sustained injuries.
The ISPR had said the attack was carried out by terrorists affiliated with the Indian proxy network Fitna al-Khwarij.
Of 650 people, including 525 cadets, who were present at Wana Cadet College at the time of the attack, security forces had rescued 115, while 535 were still inside the building on Tuesday afternoon.
Sources have told the TV channel that three Afghan militants who were present inside the college had been confined to the college’s administration block which is at quite a distance from the residences of the cadets.
Security forces had laid siege to the entire area and they conducted the operation with extreme caution since the lives of cadets were at risk.
The TV channel reported that the militants, identified as members of the Khwarij group, were in constant contact with their handlers in Afghanistan, receiving instructions over the phone.
Security officials stated that the Khwarij were holed up in a building located far from the cadets’ hostels. The clearance operation was conducted with caution to ensure the safety of the cadets and prevent any harm to them.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi strongly condemned the attack on Cadet College in Wana and praised the bravery and professionalism of the troops who neutralised the militants.
He said, “I salute the courage and dedication of our forces who protected the lives of innocent cadets and prevented a major tragedy.”
