Pakistani forces not targeting Afghan civilians, says deputy PM
Expressing concern over clashes between the Pakistani and Afghan forces, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said on Sunday that indiscriminate firing by the Taliban at the Pakistan Army positions was provocative and outrageous, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Dar said that contrary to the Taliban, the Pakistani forces in retaliation were only destroying the infrastructure of militants in Afghanistan, and were not targeting the civilians. “We are exercising utmost restraint so that there could be no collateral damage,” Dar added.
He further said that Pakistan expected the Afghan government to crack down on the outfits carrying out terrorist attacks in Pakistan.
At the same time, the deputy prime minister made it clear that Pakistan would take all possible steps to protect its territory and the people.
