Ahsan Khan’s ‘Izzat’ remarks gain attention again

Actor Ahsan Khan has again raised questions about the way women are "respected" in the society, especially pakistan.

The megastar pointed out the contradiction between calling women the “honour” of a family and failing to treat them with respect behind closed doors.

Ahsan also said that if a man considers his mother, sister, daughter or wife his “izzat”, then he should also make sure that he actually respects and protects her dignity.

“Agar aap kehte hain ke woh aurat aapki izzat hai, toh uski izzat toh karo,” (If you say that woman is your honour, then at least respect her) Ahsan said.

He went to hghlight the hypocrisy of presenting women as a source of family pride in public while subjecting them to violence and bad behaviour within the household.

According to Ahsan, simply calling a woman “izzat” is not enough if her dignity is not respected in everyday life.

He Underlines that society needs to think on how women are treated at home, notably when they are described as mothers, sisters, daughters and wives who represent a family’s honour.

The conversation around women, respect and “izzat” has once again gained attention as Ahsan Khan is currently appearing in the drama serial Ap Ki Izzat alongside Urwa Hocane.

The ongoing serial revolves around a troubled marriage with Ahsan playing a husband who cheats on his wife.

His actions eventually come to light, leading to devastating consequences as his wife discovers the affair and leaves the house quitely.
