Four Thai soldiers killed as border fighting with Cambodia escalates
American efforts to mediate peace between Thailand and Cambodia have so far failed, as fighting continues despite the announcement of a new ceasefire agreement by President Donald Trump, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
According to the report, the latest clashes between the two countries resulted in the deaths of four Thai soldiers, bringing the total number of fatalities since Monday to 14, according to foreign media reports.
In response to the ongoing violence, Cambodia has closed all border crossings with Thailand, further straining relations between the neighbouring countries.
The White House issued a statement urging both Thailand and Cambodia to respect the ceasefire agreement and work towards a peaceful resolution.
The renewed hostilities highlight the fragility of peace efforts in the region and raise concerns over further escalation along the border.
