Sindh government imposes rain emergency
The government of Sindh on Wednesday imposed an emergency in the province on account of monsoon rains, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Rain emergency has been imposed in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larakana, Mirpurkhas and Shaheed Benazirabad divisions.
In this connection, Sindh Disaster Management Authority has issued a red alert while the provincial government has directed the DMCs, district councilors and other municipal bodies to remain alert round the clock.
These municipal bodies have been ordered to arrange necessary machinery and other equipment to deal with any eventuality.
Apart from that, the Sindh government has also ordered setting up a rain emergency cell.
Earlier on Wednesday, light rain and strong winds uprooted billboards, trees and damaged cars in Karachi.
Mostly the billboards fell in Saddar and adjoining areas while the uprooting of trees at Sindh Secretariat damaged cars.
