Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb on Monday invited traders from across the country to come to Islamabad and talk in order to resolve the issues, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing a news conference in Karachi, Finance Minister Aurangzeb said the government provided as much relief it could provide to the salaried class as possible.

He further said that banks would have to play a role in the country’s economic development. “I request banks to revive sick industrial units in the country in collaboration with the investors,” he said, adding, “The government plans to increase the financing of SMEs.”

The minister dispelled the impression that the FBR ordinance had anything to do with the income tax. “The purpose of the ordinance is to deal with sales tax fraud,” he clarified.

He claimed that the country’s economy was improving courtesy the government’s policies. “The government has cut down its expenditures,” he said, adding, “Steps are also being taken to do away with circular debt.”
