Punjab introduces advanced alert system to strengthen Chinese security

Punjab authorities have decided to further strengthen security arrangements for Chinese nationals by expanding the Safe Cities panic button project and introducing an advanced alert system to protect Chinese citizens and sensitive installations.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, under the initiative, panic buttons will be installed at the residences and workplaces of Chinese nationals. 

The Special Protection Unit will also be equipped with the new panic button system to enhance its emergency response capabilities.

Officials said that, in the initial phase, QR code-enabled panic buttons will be installed at more than 200 Chinese-related installations across Lahore.

Meanwhile, Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan today, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.

According to official sources, Yermekbayev, who is from Kazakhstan, is expected to hold engagements during his visit.

Sources said that SAARC Secretary-General Mohammad Golam Sarwar, who is from Bangladesh, is already in Pakistan ahead of the SCO chief's arrival.
