Zimbabwe assistant coach says team excited for tri-series in Pakistan

Zimbabwe cricket team’s assistant coach Dion Ebrahim expressed enthusiasm and confidence ahead of the upcoming tri-nation series in Pakistan, saying the squad is thrilled to be in the country and fully prepared for the tournament, 24NewsHD TV reported on Saturday. 

Speaking to the media, Ebrahim said many players have travelled to Pakistan for the first time, adding that the team is excited to experience the local conditions.

“The climate and playing conditions here are a bit different, but the team is highly motivated. We have come with the spirit to win,” he stated.

He said Zimbabwe has been preparing for more than a year, and the tri-series will play a crucial role in their build-up for the T20 World Cup. “

This series will help us understand where our cricket stands.

International cricket requires adapting to different conditions, and this experience will be invaluable,” he added.

Ebrahim acknowledged that Pakistan boasted world-class players but credited Zimbabwe’s own strengths.

 “We have tall fast bowlers with diverse skill sets, and our pace attack brings variety,” he said.

He noted that several Zimbabwean players gained valuable exposure through the Pakistan Super League (PSL), which will benefit the team during the series.

He also highlighted that Zimbabwean cricket is active and improving despite challenges.

“It is always an honour to play and coach for your country,” Ebrahim remarked, adding that the team hopes to receive strong support from Pakistani fans.

He said the temperature back home is around 30°C, making the adjustment part of the international cricket experience.

Ebrahim reiterated that Zimbabwe has arrived with a clear target: to win the tri-series and continue building momentum toward the global tournament.
 

Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe cricket team conducted a training session in Islamabad as part of their preparations for the upcoming Tri-Nation T20 Series in Pakistan.

Under the supervision of the coaching staff, the players took part in an intensive net session, focusing on both batting and bowling drills.

Zimbabwe is currently in Pakistan to participate in the three-nation tournament, which also features the host team.

The series is set to begin on 18 November, with the opening match scheduled between Pakistan and Zimbabwe at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
