Apple has confirmed the closure of the Quran app. Apple said that the decision to close down the Quran app was taken at the request of the Chinese authorities.
The company said Apple had removed the app from its App Store at the request of Chinese authorities. Apple Censorship, the website that monitors Apple's App Store worldwide, was the first to know about the deletion.
When contacted for comment, the Chinese government did not respond.
