KP approves pre-feasibility study for Peshawar–Nowshera rail link

 The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved a pre-feasibility study for a circular rail project connecting Peshawar with Nowshera and Jehangira to improve urban mobility, 24NewsHD TV reported on Friday.  

The Board of Directors of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Urban Mobility Authority (KPUMA) has approved the project in its 20th board meeting, chaired by the Chief Minister.

An amount of Rs 13.162 million has been allocated for the study for the initiative in a move aimed at addressing the province's mounting urban mobility and road congestion challenges.

The board also approved the project’s terms of reference, budget, and related expenditures.

In a related move, the authority has been allowed to enter into a consultancy agreement with the Pak-Austria Fachhochschule Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology to support planning and technical work.

The meeting also directed officials to expedite the completion of the pre-feasibility study for the proposed Peshawar–Torkham railway project on a fast-track basis.
