Punjab govt ‘decides’ to celebrate Basant Festival

The Government of Punjab has decided in principle to celebrate the Basant festival across the province next year, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday, quoting its sources.

The sources divulged to the TV channel that preparation and production of kites and strings will be launched in October this.

The administrative plan has been given final touches for kite-making at particular places, the sources said and added that a special strategy has been framed to keep the prices of kites and strings under control.

The sources further revealed that the Punjab government will undertake necessary legislation regarding holding of the Basant Festival.

The sources said the Basant will be celebrated in an organized manner in the last week of January next year. Protective measures will be part of the legal rules regarding the kite-flying, the sources added.

The rules and regulations and the nominated places will be unveiled soon, the sources said.
