Wheat price falls after goods transporters end strike

Wheat price decreased by Rs2.50 after goods transporters announced to end their strike across the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

Flour Mills Association Sindh Zone Chairman Abdul Junaid Aziz said that wheat prices in the market had also dropped from Rs123 to Rs120.50 per kilogram.

He said that after the strike ended, wheat prices also came down. He further clarified that flour millers were not responsible for the price hike.

Abdul Junaid Aziz said that 2.50 number flour’s ex-mill price is Rs130 and the price of fine flour in the market is Rs145 per kilogram.

Earlier, on Sunday, the country’s goods transporters announced that they would postpone their strike for 40 days in “broader national interest”.

The goods transporters had announced a countrywide wheel-jam strike on Aug 8 after talks with the government failed over the daily fixing of petrol and diesel prices, among other issues. strike
