Death toll in tragic Phalia accident rises to eight

The death toll in the tragic bus accident in Phalia has gone up to eight as three more succumbed to their injuries on Saturday morning, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Amir, Usman Qasim and Muhammad Yar breathed their last as another 11 injured were under treatment at the hospital. A father and a son were also among the dead.

Qadirabad Police Station has registered a case against the bus driver. The bus driver lost its control after its brakes were failed and crushed a wedding party last night.

The accident occurred near Tahli Adda of tehsil Phalia of district Mandi Bahauddin. Another 11 were also injured when the bus ran into the participants of a mehndi ceremony after its brakes got failed, turning the marriage celebrations into mourning.

According to police, the guests of the marriage ceremony were celebrating the mehndi event on Sial Morr Road when the brakes-free bus rammed into them.

The driver of the bus fled from the scene soon after the accident.

Those who died included Allah Bakhsh, Mohsin, Allah Ditta, Adnan and Abdulla. All the injured have been shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Phalia and District Headquarters Hospital Mandi Bahauddin.

Those who got injured include Ashraf, Mazhar, Ijaz, Shahid, Amjad, Osama, Zafar and Shamraan.
