Appointing caretaker Punjab CM 

The chief minister and the opposition are bound to finalise the name of the caretaker CM by 10:00 pm tonight.

If the chief minister and the opposition leader fail to develop a consensus, the matter will be taken up by the Punjab Assembly speaker.

The speaker will constitute a joint parliamentary committee under Article 224A.

Consisting of 3 government and 3 opposition members, the body will be given three days to take the decision.

If the committee fails to reach a consensus, the matter will go to the Election Commission of Pakistan. 

The election commission will select one of the names sent by the government and the opposition leader as caretaker chief minister.
