Interior Minister Ijaz Shah on Wednesday said sacrificing the animals was a religious duty and the government would do everything to provide every facility to the people.
Chairing a meeting in Islamabad to review the arrangements and SOPs required for the purpose on Eidul Azha, the minister, however, noted that it was also necessary to follow the precautionary measures and, therefore, the arrangements should be according to the guidelines set by the health ministry.
A clear strategy is being formulated in this regard, which would be finalised after consulting all the stakeholders, he added.
The interior minister said they also wanted guidance from religious leaders on the subject so that the citizens could be protected and the coronavirus spread stopped.
Apart from ensuring that the interest of animal traders was protected, the protection of people would be the top priority, said Ijaz Shah.
