Former interior minister Sheikh Rasheed said on Tuesday that important developments were expected in the next 48 hours as the present government was finding it hard to govern the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, he said that the country was going to have a caretaker setup very soon.
He claimed that majority of parties were in the favour of early elections. “Even the MQM-P has now said it will prefer to sit on the opposition benches rather than remaining part of the coalition government,” he said.

Referring to the change of government through a no-trust motion, Rasheed went on to say that whosoever had made that ‘masterplan’ was a fool. “PTI Chairman Imran Khan will give call for the long march in Multan on May 20,” the former interior minister said.
He alleged that the government was working on stopping further investigation into corruption references against former president and PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz and Zardari’s friend Ayyan Ali.
He was of the view that whenever former prime minister and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif would arrive in Pakistan, people would hoot him and call him ‘Chaur, Chaur and Chaur’ (Thief).
Minister reacts to Rasheed’s statement:
Reacting to Sheikh Rasheed’s presser, Federal Minister for Health Abdul Qadir Patel alleged that ‘false and fabricated’ cases were registered against Faryal Talpur, PPP leader and sister of party Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari.
He claimed that the days of Rasheed’s politics were numbered.
