New wave of infighting surfaces in PTI Punjab
Reports of a rift in the ranks of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Punjab over party's reorganisation are rife, 24NewsHD TV reported on Friday.
According to the report, PTI Punjab Chief Organiser Aliya Hamza and Secretary General Salman Akram Raja are face-to-face this time as Raja has refused to accept Ali Imtiaz Warraich's appointment as PTI Central Punjab president.
Ali Imtiaz Warraich was appointed president of the PTI Central Punjab on Thursday and Aliya Hamza issued a notification of the appointment. However,
Raja declared the appointment invalid, saying that PTI founder Imran Khan did not ask for this change in Punjab.
Warraich had made his appoint public on Aliya Hamza's instructions yesterday and thanked the party leadership for entrusting him this responsibility.
Warraich also issued a clarification after Raja's statement.
He said, "The senior leadership informed me that my name has been proposed for the PTI Central Punjab president. I do not want any position in the party. The senior party leadership should move forward with prudence and maturity."
