IHC reserves verdict on SC powers regarding dam fund

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Tuesday reserved its verdict on the petition against the powers of the Supreme Court (SC) regarding the dam fund, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq heard the petition of lawyer Adnan Iqbal.

“Building a dam is the job of the executive. How does the Supreme Court supervise it? So many cases are pending in the Supreme Court, they should be looked into,” lawyer Adnan Iqbal said.

“Why didn’t you object when the dam fund was being collected. It has been five years since the dam funds were collected,” Chief Justice Aamer Farooq remarked.

“If the State Bank had any objection, the account would not have been opened. Read the notification in full to see what it says,” he added.

“The Supreme Court has no jurisdiction to collect funds this way,” the lawyer stated.
