Pakistan able to reduce active coronavirus cases to below 14,000

The coronavirus pandemic is surely contained in Pakistan as the number of new cases are constantly hovering around 700 mark in recent days while there is a sharp decline in deaths too.

According to the latest figures released by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 617 people were diagnosed with the virus during the past 24 hours (Monday). It means the overall number of cases now stands at 289,832.

Moreover, the death toll climbed to 6,190 after another 15 coronavirus patients were reportedly dead in different parts of the country during the same period. 

When it comes to the recovery rate, a total of 270,009 people have so far fully recovered from the infection which means the number of closed cases currently stands at 276,199. Thus, the number of active cases has now decreased to 13,633.

However, 759 coronavirus patients are still in critical condition and being treated in the intensive care units of different hospitals.

As far as the region-wise distribution of the coronavirus spread in concerned, Sindh continues to top the list with 126,425 cases. It is followed 95,611 in Punjab, 35,337 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 15,401 in Islamabad, 12,321 in Balochistan, 2,538 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 2,199 in Azad Kashmir.

On the other hand, the number of tests conducted since the coronavirus outbreak increased to 2,317,213 as 17,612 more people went through the testing process during the past 24 hours.
