Bollywood films that were shot in Afghanistan

The country now facing an uncertain future was once the home to man Bollywood film shoots. From 1975 to now, a lot of movies have been shot in the beautiful locations of Afghanistan which is rich in art, culture and history.
Let’s take a look at some of the Bollywood movies that were shot in the war-torn country. 'Dharmatma' was the first Bollywood film that was shot in Afghanistan. It was produced and directed by Feroz Khan. The cast includes Feroz Khan, Hema Malini, Rekha, Premnath, Imtiaz Khan and Farida Jalal with many others. This film took Feroz Khan to new heights in his career as this was a hit movie.
Amitabh Bachchan and Sridevi starrer 'Khuda Gawah' was extensively shot in and around the cities of Kabul and Mazar-i-Sharif in Afghanistan. The film was written and directed by Mukul S Anand.
‘Kabul Express’ was also extensively filmed in Kabul, after the end of the Taliban's reign. Kabul Express was the first fictional film for director Kabir Khan who has made several documentaries over the years in Afghanistan. The film stars John Abraham, Arshad Warsi, Pakistani actor Salman Shahid, Afghan actor Hanif Hum Ghum and American actress Linda Arsenio.
‘Janasheen’ is a romantic action thriller film co-written, edited, produced and directed by Feroz Khan who stars along with his son, Fardeen Khan, and Celina Jaitly. It was partly shot in Afghanistan. Afghanistan is now under the Taliban regime, since the weekend, hundreds of Afghans have fled the country
