Punjab, Yokohama agree on environmental and development partnership
CM Maryam Nawaz discusses cooperation with Yokohama mayor during Japan visit: Plans Japan-standard roads and buildings for Punjab: high-speed train between Lahore and Islamabad under consideration
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, during her visit to Japan, has reached an agreement with Yokohama on cooperation in various sectors, including the environment, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
According to details, the chief minister formally began her official engagements during the trip.
She visited Yokohama, the country’s leading commercial, economic, and cultural hub, and held a meeting with the city’s mayor.
In the meeting, discussions were held on bringing the quality of roads and building construction in Punjab up to Japan’s standards.
At the Yokohama Town Hall, CM Maryam Nawaz was given a briefing on urban development. Both sides agreed to enhance cooperation in several areas, particularly environmental protection.
Maryam Nawaz also decided to benefit from Japan’s experiences in city development and explored ways to adopt Japanese-level standards for roads and buildings in Punjab.
The chief minister further reviewed possible collaboration on advanced Japanese chairlift and air-cabin projects, along with the proposal of running a high-speed train between Lahore and Islamabad.
As per her schedule, Maryam Nawaz will also meet with the Pakistani community residing in Japan during her visit.
