Asad Umar tests positive for coronavirus

Asad Umar, federal minister for planning, development, reforms and special initiatives, tested positive for coronavirus on Friday. 

Asad, 59, is also working as chairman of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), the nerve centre to synergise and articulate unified national effort against Covid-19. He also served as finance minister of Pakistan during the early days of the PTI government. 

A few weeks ago, Major General Muhammad Afzal, former chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), also tested positive for the Covid-19. He was playing a vital role in the war on coronavirus as NDMA chairman.
