Commenting on the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s (PTI) win on 15, out of total 20 Punjab Assembly (PA) seats in the by-election held yesterday (Sunday, July 17, 2022), former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan said the way people came out of their homes to vote was nothing less than a ‘revolution’, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In his address to the nation on Monday, he said indeed such an enthusiastic participation by the people was a good omen.

“For the first time in my life have I seen awakening in my nation,” he said, adding, “The solution to all our problems lies in our unity.”

PTI chairman, however, repeated his demand for the resignation of chief election commissioner (CEC), accusing him of trying his best to get the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidates elected. “As many as four million people were declared dead in the voting lists,” he said, adding, “Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz used police against his political opponents.”

Blaming political crisis for the country’s poor economic situation, he said the only solution to the crisis was free, and fair elections.

The former prime minister, on the occasion, also announced to move the Supreme Court (SC) against the waiver off corruption cases of billions of rupees by the coalition government against the leaders of political parties.

He asserted that ideology was the basis of any nation.

Imran reiterated that he was ousted from power as a result of a ‘foreign conspiracy’, and said the nation would not yield to foreign pressure under any circumstances.

The former prime minister regretted that political crisis was deliberately created for his government so that it could be sent home.
