Sydney Sweeney claims playing 'Christy' changed her
Sydney Sweeney recently revealed feeling stronger after her role in former professional boxer, Christy Martin’s biographical movie.
During an interview at the premiere of her latest movie in West Hollywood, Sweeney reflected on playing the role of legendary professional boxer Christy Martin and how it changed her personality.
She said, “It taught me a lot about myself, actually, throughout the entire process. She taught me how to stand up for myself more and feel stronger in my personal life, my work life," Sydney continued.
The Immaculate star compared the life of the legendary boxer Martin in the ring to her real-life battles.
"We both fight our own fights in different types of rings and, yeah, check in on your friends and make sure they’re all okay," Sweeney added.
Christy premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 5, and is all set to hit theaters on November 9.
The film revolves around Christy Martin never imagining a life beyond her small-town roots in West Virginia, until she discovers a knack for punching people.
Fueled by grit, raw determination, and an unshakable desire to win, she charges into the world of boxing under the guidance of her trainer and manager-turned-husband, Jim (Ben Foster).
Sydney was first seen on television in 2009 with a small role in Heroes.
Her film debut was in the 2010 horror-comedy ZMD: Zombies of Mass Destruction. She gained significant recognition for roles in the Netflix series Everything Sucks! in 2018 and her breakthrough role in the HBO series Euphoria in 2019.
