Heavy rain lashes Lahore

Heavy rain coupled with thunderstorm turned the weather pleasant and the roads and streets into flooded canals in Lahore on Wednesday morning, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The early morning downpour reduced the humidity bringing in respite from the days-long muggy weather. All major city towns including Johar Town, Township, Model Town, Shalimar Link Road, Saddar Bazaar, Mughalpura and Garhi Shahu received the rain.
The rainwater accumulated on the roads in low-lying areas of the City making it difficult for motorists and pedestrians to reach their offices and workplaces.

Wasa has resumed its post-rain operation in parts of the city. The downpour also hit Mall Road, Abbot Road and Davis Road.
According to the Meteorological Department, strong monsoon currents likely to penetrate from Wednesday that will produce widespread rains in the country during next three to four days.
Heavy to very heavy falls are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Abbottabad, Charsadda, Mardan, Peshawar, Nowshera and Kashmir.
Met Office predicted fairly widespread rain-thundershower in Khyber Pakhtunkhuwa’s Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Abbottabad, Peshawar, Mardan, Charsadda, Kohat and Kashmir during Wednesday to Friday.

While, scattered rain-thundershowers are expected in Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, DG Khan, Bahawalpur, Waziristan, Bannu, DI Khan, Zhob, Musakhel and Barkhan during the period.
The Met Office said heavy rainfall may generate flash flooding in local nullah/streams of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and urban flooding on Thursday or Friday.
