Police in Lahore on Sunday took two men into custody following a lady constable complained of harassment at their hands while she was on-duty at Greater Iqbal Park (Minare Pakistan), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
On the complaint of their female colleague named Aasia, police arrested both the suspects from gate 5 of the park.
According to the FIR, which was registered at Larri Adda police station, Naeem and Tayyab, residents of Ravi Road, harassed the lady constable by passing vulgar comments against her.
It is reminded here that only few months ago, on August 14, 2021, Ayesha Akram Beg, a TikToker, had been molested by a mob of around 400 men, mostly youth, at the same park where she had gone to make a video in connection with the country’s Independence Day celebrations.
The incident had sent shockwaves across the nation as the people demanded tough penalties for the eve-teasers as well as rapists in order to deter them from committing such crimes.
