Govt is determined to digitalize national economy: SBP governor

State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Governor Jameel Ahmad on Monday said that the federal government and central bank are fully determined to make the national economy digital, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The SBP governor expressed these views while addressing the Al Baraka Regional Forum Conference held in Karachi.

Governor SBP said that Islamic finance is based on equality and risk sharing. Jameel Ahmad said that Islamic banking is not different from normal banking.

The purpose of Islamic banking is to achieve social and economic goals. Governor Jameel Ahmad said that the State Bank of Pakistan and the federal government are determined to make the national economy digital.

He said that SBP Vision 2028 highlighted the digitalization of Pakistan, and measures are being introduced for regulation and digitalization 

Governor SBP said that Raast and other mobile applications showed the introduction of Islamic financing in Pakistan.
