Iranian envoy says US undermined Pakistan-mediated agreement
Says months of Pakistani mediation led to a 14-point memorandum between Tehran and Washington: Rejects Washington’s interpretation of agreement: Alleges US violated accord by launching military action against Iranian infrastructure
Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran, Reza Amiri Moghadam, has accused the United States of violating the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the Iranian envoy said Washington was responsible for breaching an agreement reached after months of Pakistani mediation.
In a statement posted on X, the ambassador said Pakistan had spent several months facilitating talks between Iran and the United States, which resulted in a 14-point memorandum of understanding.
He said both countries had also agreed to continue negotiations under the framework of the agreement.
According to the ambassador, the United States later interpreted key provisions of the memorandum in a manner that differed from the original text.
He stated that Iran rejected the American interpretation and would not accept any changes that departed from the agreed wording.
The ambassador further alleged that the United States violated the agreement by initiating military action against Iran and targeting the country’s infrastructure.
He maintained that Washington’s actions were contrary to the commitments made under the Pakistan-brokered understanding.
