Gohar Ejaz visits Sheikh Ejaz Dialysis Center in Lahore

Former caretaker minister and Chairman of Jinnah Hospital Board of Management Dr Gohar Ejaz visited Sheikh Ejaz Dialysis Center in Lahore on Friday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Gohar Ejaz said, “When his father was undergoing dialysis, it was a very difficult time.”

Gohar Ejaz said that he feels the pain of dialysis personally, as his father also suffered from the same disease.

The former caretaker minister said that a system was established with the help of the Pakistan Information Technology Board for Rs500 million for the treatment of dialysis patients.

He said that he has decided to establish a dialysis center in Jinnah Hospital in 2006 and bore all the expenditure. He said that in 2006 the total expenses of dialysis were Rs60,000, but now it has become too costly and the dialysis cost has reached Rs200,000.

He said that currently 60 dialysis machines are available, from which 50 to 60 patients are being treated daily.

Gohar Ejaz said that over 3 million people are availing the benefits of dialysis facilities annually.

Gohar Ejaz also introduced a free meal facility for the patients and their caretakers. Now over 12,000 to 13,000 persons are taking advantage of the free meal facility, he added.
