Govt, JI begin fifth round of talks on petroleum levy

The fifth round of talks between the government and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) over the proposed abolition of the petroleum levy began in Lahore, 24NewsHD TV reported on Saturday.
A government delegation headed by Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal reached Mansoora to hold talks with Jamaat-e-Islami leadership.

The delegation also includes Prime Minister’s Advisor Rana Sanaullah Khan and Punjab Provincial Minister Khawaja Salman.
JI’s negotiating team is being led by Deputy Emir Liaqat Baloch.

Other members include acting secretary general Nazir Ahmed Janjua, Lahore emir Zia-ud-Din Ansari, special assistant to the emir, and others.  

The negotiations over the abolition of the petroleum levy began on September 7, with the two sides holding multiple rounds of talks since then. 
JI has announced a “Super Long March” for September 20 if the government fails to abolish the petroleum levy.
