Sindh to launch anti-polio campaign across province from Sept 21

The Sindh government has decided to launch an anti-polio campaign across the province from September 21 to 27, with a target of administering polio drops to more than 10 million children, Reported 24NewsHD TV.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has issued an important letter to media houses, urging them to play their role in raising awareness about the campaign.

The chief minister directed media outlets to dedicate the first 15 seconds of every hourly news bulletin to the anti-polio campaign and highlight the importance of ensuring every child receives polio drops.

According to the letter, the campaign will be conducted across all 30 districts of Sindh, including 23 fully targeted and seven partially targeted districts.

All children under the age of five will be administered polio drops during the campaign. Children who have received polio drops in previous campaigns will also be required to receive the vaccine again.

Murad Ali Shah said the media’s role was crucial in eliminating the polio virus and urged parents and caregivers to fully cooperate with polio workers.

The letter noted that Pakistan and Afghanistan remain the only two countries in the world where the polio virus continues to circulate, while the continued detection of the virus in environmental samples remains a concern.

The chief minister called on parents and caregivers to ensure that children under five are vaccinated during the campaign.
