Major-Gen Umar Fareed appointed as additional defence secretary

The federal government on Wednesday appointed Major-General Umar Fareed as Additional Secretary Defence (I) Division with immediate effect, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to a notification issued by the Establishment Division, Major-General Umar Fareed will relieve Major-General Aamir Ashfaq Kiyani.

Saira Imdad Ali a BS-20 officer who was performing her responsibilities in the commerce division, will assume new charge in National School of Public Policy Lahore.

Earlier on Tuesday federal government appointed Dr Hamid Ateeq Sarwar as member of the Strategic Transformation Unit at the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on a one-year contract and directed National Commission for Women Chief Mohammad Ismail Iqbal to report to the establishment division.

Dr Hamid Atiq Sarwar is a retired BS-22 officer of the Inland Revenue Service, has assumed charge as Member (Strategic Transformation) at the FBR Headquarters in Islamabad.
