The top city police ordered swift action after a drunk couple beat a police constable in Lahore’s Defence area, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

CCPO Lahore Muhammad Umer Sheikh took notice of the incident where the tipsy woman and her male partner misbehaved with the police constable and then beat him. As the constable tried to avoid their onslaught, they both ran after him and slapped him again and again.

The constable did not fight back and kept his calm while trying to avoid the couple.

The CCPO has sought a report from the ASP Cantt about the incident. The CCPO also praised the good work of the constable and others. He specially lauded the constable for showing patience during the clash.

The CCPO remarked that it was police’s job to provide protection to the people but this kind of behaviour cannot be tolerated.

He further said the people involved in torturing the police constable will face full force of the law.
