Senators salaries hiked in line with MNAs

Senate Finance Committee has approved an increase in the salaries of senators, raising their monthly pay to Rs519,000, effective from January 1,2025. 

However, the salaries of the Senate chairman and deputy chairman will remain unchanged. The decision was made during a meeting of the Senate Finance Committee held at Parliament House, chaired by Acting Chairman Senate Syedal Khan Nasir. 

Several committee members, including Saleem Mandviwala, Shahadat Awan, and Senator Liaquat Khan, were in attendance. However, opposition leader Shibli Faraz and Maulana Attaur Rehman were absent. PPP Senator Saleem Mandviwala confirmed the salary hike. He stated that the increase was approved in line with the National Assembly’s decision.
