PML-Q standing by PTI: Parvez Elahi

Jahangir Tareen is part of the Tehrik-e-Insaf and his ‘likeminded group’ is PTI’s internal matter, Punjab Assembly Speaker Parvez Elahi said on Thursday.

Although the PTI has not fulfilled the promises made with the PML-Q from the very first day of forming the coalition government after the 2018 general election, the PML-Q is still an ally, Parvez Elahi said while talking to a delegation of Mandi Bahauddin District Bar Association.

MPA Sajid Khan Bhatti bar DBA President Zahid Yar Gondal, Secretary Yasir Arafat, former president Zahoor Gondal, Safdar Hayat to the meeting. Punjab Assembly Secretary Muhammad Khan was also present.

Parvez Elahi listed the PML-Q feats in fixing problems confronting the PTI-led coalition government. He cited his party’s role in solving the matter of Fazlur Rehman’s sit-in, getting elected Jahangir Tareen’s wife and Waleed Iqbal

About Shehbaz Sharif’s political position, he said the PML-N is all about Nawaz Sharif. He has the power to make decisions in any case Maryam Nawaz is an heiress and she is leading the party with the backing of Nawaz Sharif, he added.

Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto played an important role in getting senators elected unopposed from Punjab, he said, adding that he expressed his gratitude to Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto for their efforts.

The speaker said a no-confidence move from the PML-Q is out of the question. The Punjab Assembly speaker said he doesn’t think the Tareen group can harm Imran Khan’s government as he (Imran Khan) had gotten the vote of confidence while the Senate chairman, as well as deputy chairman, also belongs to the PTI.

He laid emphasis on standing by allies and demonstrating political wisdom. The speaker said a no-confidence move from the PML-Q is out of the question.
