Opposition's APC begins in Islamabad to evolve consensus ‘action plan’
Nawaz Sharif reaches son's office in London to take part in APC virtually
After much hullabaloo for days on both sides of the political divide, the all parties conference of the opposition parties started in Islamabad on Sunday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Top leaders of PPP, PML-N and other parties are in attendance.
The stars of the events will be a former three-time prime minister and a former president.
As a cherry on the top of the cake, PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif is also in attendance though virtually. He has also left his residence at Avenfield House in London and reached his son Hassan Nawaz’s office where party workers have already present to receive him. The PML-N supremo is expected to address the APC via a video link.
Accompanied by sons Hassan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz, Nawaz Sharif told the party workers and the media persons on the occasion that he is alright.
Senior PML-N leader and former finance minister Ishaq Dar also reached Hassan Nawaz's office.
PPP Co-Chairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari will also address the event virtually.
The APC has started In Islamabad with PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif in the chair. The other members of his delegation are Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Khawaja Asif, Ayaz Sadiq, Marriyum Aurangzeb and others.
PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz is not a part of the PML-N delegation attending the APC. However, she was especially invited to the APC by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. Maryam was on its way to Islamabad from Murree where she and her delegation stayed for the night.
The hosts of the event, PPP leaders led by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Yousaf Raza Gilani, Farhatullah Babar, Sherry Rahman, Nayyar Bokhari, Nafisa Shah and others were the first to arrive at the APC venue to receive the guests.
Talking to the newsmen gathering outside, PPP leader Sherry Rahman said the APC will evolve a consensus “action plan” for the future. She said the whole APC will not be live-streamed. Only a few events will be live-streamed.
She said there will be a news briefing after the end of the APC in the evening.
BNP-M leader Dr Jehanzeb Jamaldini said they are attending the APC as an independent bencher. “They may cooperate with the government when it will work for the prosperity of Balochistan,” he added.
