‘This person is extremely shameless’, MPA Hina Parvez Butt condemns Rajab Butt
Punjab Assembly member and Punjab Women Protection Authority Chairperson Hina Parvez Butt has strongly condemned YouTuber Rajab Butt over his controversial remarks about child sexual abuse, describing his conduct as extremely shameless and arrogant and questioning the mindset of those who continue to support him.
Taking to her official X account, Hina expressed her anger over the resurfaced remarks, stressing that a highly sensitive issue such as child sexual abuse should never be turned into a subject of humour.
“This person is extremely shameless and arrogant. Making jokes about a highly sensitive topic like child rape is no laughing matter,” Hina wrote.
She further criticised Rajab’s response to the backlash, claiming that he began behaving disrespectfully toward people who called him out after the controversy gained momentum.
“To me, the people who follow a filthy mindset like yours do not seem normal,” she added.
The controversy erupted after an old clip from a TikTok Live session featuring Rajab Butt and fellow content creator Zaid Ali resurfaced on social media.
During the livestream, Rajab made an inappropriate remark referring to child sexual abuse while commenting on Zaid’s facial expression. The clip quickly circulated online, prompting widespread criticism from social media users and public figures.
Actresses including Sehar Khan and Mishi Khan subsequently spoke out against the remark, arguing that such a serious and traumatic issue should not be used as entertainment or a punchline. Mishi later specifically criticised Rajab’s comparison of his online reach with television drama viewership, stressing that the issue raised by actors was about his words rather than his wealth or following.
Rajab initially responded to some of the criticism by highlighting the size of his online audience in comparison with television drama viewership, further intensifying the debate surrounding his remarks.
Amid the mounting criticism, Rajab eventually issued a public apology on Instagram.
Acknowledging that his comments were extremely inappropriate and below the belt, he said that jokes of this nature may have become normalised in some social settings, but that this did not make them acceptable.
Rajab also acknowledged the seriousness of child sexual abuse and apologised to people whose feelings may have been hurt or whose past traumas may have been triggered by his words. He further admitted that the fact the video was old did not excuse what he had said.
