Petroleum minister pledges measures to keep fuel available and affordable
Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik said global oil prices and supplies were being affected by the tense international situation, with the government closely monitoring developments, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
He noted that fuel has become scarce in France, but despite the resource constraints, it is his responsibility to provide a continued supply of fuel to the public. He said necessary measures will be taken to make fuel affordable.
Ali Pervaiz said decisions in the energy sector were being made while keeping the national interest and the country’s requirements in view. He added that the government was monitoring both oil prices and supplies in light of the evolving international situation.
Speaking to the media in Lahore, the minister said measures were being taken to ensure the availability of petroleum products across the country amid the ongoing crisis.
The federal minister pointed out that global oil prices had increased by 90 percent, while domestic prices had been raised by 50 percent.
He acknowledged the difficulties being faced by the public and said the government was mindful of the burden on consumers.
