PTI lawmaker Shakil Khan named in case after Levies personnel come under fire
Two Levies personnel were injured in firing in Malakand on Sunday, with a case registered against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPA Shakil Khan and others, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday.
According to police and local reports, the incident involved firing by guards accompanying the PTI lawmaker.
Videos purportedly showing Shakil Khan at the scene and his guards opening fire at Levies personnel have also surfaced.
Police have registered a case against Shakil Khan and other individuals, while further legal action and arrests are reportedly under way.
The incident comes ahead of PTI’s planned September 27 protest in Islamabad. PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa president Junaid Akbar recently said in a speech that protesters would reach Islamabad through multiple routes and used the phrase “turn Islamabad into Somnath” while referring to the planned march.
